I recently bought a new rear silencer from ebay but when i've come to fit it, it is blowing at the joint. Is there any way to remedy this? I'm not sure if the exhaust that was already fitted is a standard one for my car, but the new rear silencer i bought seems to be a little big at the joint. I've never replaced one before so don't know if there is some sort of filler to use or other. Can anyone help? There should be 2 slots cut in the outer sleeving part. These are compressed by a "U" bolt and brace with 2 nuts. There is a product you can smear on the inner sleeve - found here http://www.classicsagogo.co.uk/acatalog/Hylomar.html Yes, throw it away and fit one that fits the car. Buying from ebay is pretty damn stupid. Cut 3 or 4 little slots and compress it tight then put a u bolt or weld it tight. some exhasult parts are not universal so you might need to buy the centre pipe & CAT from the same shop or dealer this gets expensive becasue i had to do this when replacing my CAT i needed to buy centre pipe and back box all because the parts wouldnt fit to my old parts that were in fine condition Auto parts : Exhaust Insulator Acura 1995 . Saab . Chicago Pneumatic CP772H & Impact Wrench SpecificationsThe Chicago Pneumatic CP772H Impact Wrench is a heavy-duty air impact wrench that is used by auto mechanics to loosen and fasten nuts and bolts. It is meant to be connected to and powered by a separate air compressor. At the time of publication, this model is in production and available for sale from third-party retailers. A similar model, the CP772H-6, has a longer shaft and is recommended for changing and installing tires. Physical Specifications The standard CP772H weighs 10.5 lbs. and the CP772H-6 weighs 11.63 lbs. The length of the standard model is 9.6 inches from the end of the housing to the end of the shaft, and that of the extended shaft model is 15.5 inches. All other specifications for both models are the same, including the 3/4-inch square drive and 3/8-inch air inlet. Power and Performance The CP772H models have a working torque range of 150 to 700 foot-pounds and a maximum torque of 1,000 pounds at 90 pounds per square inch air pressure. Average air consumption is measured at 6 cubic feet per minute, with actual air consumption at 24 cubic feet per minute. Free speed for these two air impact wrench models is 4,200 rpm and impact rate is 900 impacts per minute. Noise and Vibration The noise of the CP722H models is measured at 96 decibels. Vibration is rated at 4.9 meters per second squared. Additional Features The Chicago Pneumatic CP772H Impact Wrench includes a hand push-button for power regulation and forward/reverse settings. There are four positive power settings in forward mode and it is set for ultimate power in reverse. The handle exhaust has a fully rotating air inlet swivel to prevent hose kinks, and the handle grip is contoured for comfort.
Saab . How to Use a Normal Socket With an Impact WrenchUsing a normal socket with an impact wrench is no different than using an impact socket with an impact wrench. The difference between the two sockets is the thickness and hardness of the material used to make them. Obviously, the impact socket is made to withstand the punishment of the impact wrench, but for projects that require less torque to either attach or remove a fastener, a normal socket will do just fine. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Air compressor Air hose Normal socket set Impact wrench Step by Step : 1 Attach the air compressor hose to the impact wrench by pulling back the compression ring on the female end of the hose and inserting the male fitting on the handle of the impact wrench into the hose connection and releasing the compression ring when the male fitting is seated. 2 Choose the appropriate size normal socket that will fit the nut or bolt being removed. Align the square hole in the socket with the square drive on the impact wrench and push the square drive of the impact wrench into the square hole of the socket. 3 Remove the nut or bolt by placing the exposed end of the socket over the nut or bolt and pressing the trigger of the impact wrench. Make sure that the impact is set in the reverse position before pressing the trigger. If the nut or bolt is being tightened, place the socket attached to the impact wrench over the nut or bolt and press the trigger while the wrench is in the forward position. Refer to the impact wrench manufacturer's manual for directions. Tips & Warnings While it is acceptable to use a normal socket on an impact wrench, the type of socket and the torque required for the particular task should be considered. For instance, it is acceptable to use normal sockets for any job involving a 3/8-inch drive impact wrench as long as the sockets are six-point types. Never use a 12-point socket in combination with an impact wrench. It is also acceptable to use normal six-point sockets for some jobs that require a 1/2-inch drive impact, but never for jobs that require a 3/4-inch or larger impact wrench. In those cases impact sockets must be used to protect both the socket and the person operating the impact wrench. Always wear safety glasses while operating air tools. *v* Although you should never buy tires that are smaller than those specified for your vehicle, you can buy tires a size or two larger (if the car's wheel clearance allows it) for better handling or load-carrying ability. However, you should buy these larger tires in pairs and place them on the same axle. Ask your mechanic or a reputable tire or auto dealer for advice about the proper size range for your vehicle. For more advice, see "Tips for Buying Tires," later in this chapter. Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System 406 V Never use two different-sized tires on the same axle. V* If you're replacing just one or two tires, put the new ones on the front for better cornering control and braking (because weight transfers to the front tires when you brake). C" If you still have bias-ply or bias-belted tires on your car, you must replace all of them at the same time with radials when they wear out. You can't mix different kinds of tires on the same vehicle; you should have the same type on all four wheels. The ride is so different that radial tires would throw your car out of alignment if you tried them in combination with the old-style tires. u* Remember that you have to "break in" new tires, so don't drive faster than 60 mph for the first 50 miles on a new tire or spare. v0 Store tires that you aren't using in the dark, away from extreme heat and electric motors that create ozone. Retreads: Bargains or blowouts? Millions of tires are discarded every year, and tires that had disintegrated on the road. But an entire industry has developed to put them today, advances in retreading have raised their back on the road by replacing the worn tread quality, and the industry's Tire Retread areas with new ones. The retreading process Information Bureau claims that retreads have involves grinding the tread off an otherwise the same 3 percent failure rate as new tires. Checking tire inflation pressure The single most important factor in caring for your tires is maintaining the correct inflation pressure. You should check your tires at least once a month and before every long trip to see that they're properly inflated. Underinflated tires wear out faster, create excessive heat, increase fuel consumption, and Saab . What does the triangle with another triangle inside it mean if it's on the dashboard?

Overinflated tires can blow out more easily, wear out faster, and make the vehicle unstable and unsafe to handle. The section "Checking your tires for wear," later in this chapter, can help you check for signs of these problems and tells you what to do about them. Check tire pressure in the morning before you use the car or when you've driven it less than a mile. If you drive more than that, your tires will heat up and the air will expand, so you won't get an accurate reading. In hot weather, the pressure in your tires rises as the air in them heats up and expands, which can result in overinflation. Conversely, in cold weather, the pressure falls as the cold air contracts and your tires can end up underinflated. As you'll see in the section called "Checking your tires for wear," these conditions can cause your tires to wear unevenly and wear out prematurely. \\V 4t ^ tn e weather gets very cold, it looks as though it will stay that way for some ~"~"~ time, and you get a low reading, you may want to add a bit of air to your tires to bring the pressure back up. Generally, though, tires that are correctly inflated tend to wear properly in spite of minor weather ups and downs. Just Saab . How much does a rail car weigh?

Here's what you need to do to check the air pressure in your tires: 1. Buy an accurate tire gauge at a hardware store or auto supply store. Figure 19-2 shows you what a tire gauge looks like. I show you how to use one a little later in this section. 2. Determine the proper air pressure for your tires by looking for the proper inflation pressure on the tire decal. You can find the tire decal on one of the doors, door pillars, glove box, console, or trunk. Sometimes the tire decal specifies one pressure for the front tires and a different pressure for the rear tires. Saab . How do you build up an engine to take more boost?
